Clarifying SuiNS's ICANN Registration Strategy

As the Sui Name Service (SuiNS) continues to grow, we must establish a clear stance on whether to register the .sui top-level domain (TLD) with ICANN. This decision will significantly impact the future direction of SuiNS and how it integrates with the broader internet ecosystem.

If the registration plan is confirmed, we should carefully consider how SuiNS domains are expanded. Specifically, we must ensure that the introduction of emoji-based domains or country-specific SuiNS domains does not lead to conflicts with ICANN regulations. While creative domain extensions can enhance user experience, they should not create regulatory hurdles that may complicate the .sui TLD registration process.

A well-defined approach will help SuiNS maintain its credibility and long-term viability within both the Sui ecosystem and the broader domain name landscape.

good point on making sure that emoji based domains are not conflicting with regulations

Whether or not .sui will be a top-level domain is unknown at the moment. A third party company will have to enter in the ICANN auction that happens once every couple of years to bid on .sui being a domain.

Have to wait until that . Until then we could use the walrus sites and use SuiNS as DNS for it .

Will we have a different domain from walrus sites after the walrus mainnet that is what I have to watch
