Community Feedback Needed: Shaping SuiNS Domain Pricing Together

My opinion it gives to someone (who have got airdroped or made a vote in last event) NFT of SuiNS fan.

And those who have these NFT have rights for discounts.

Hello team, I have some ideas regarding NS:
1-Fixed price in USD. Don’t use NS as payment (otherwise all you have in your treasury will be NS token, you need USD for downtrend. And it will look bad if you sell NS for USD in case you need USD for operation ). Perhaps you can allow NS for renewal fee with a bit of discount.
2-Use a % of income to buy back and burn NS to stable the price and make NS token deflationary.
3-Use a % of income to buy back NS and put it into Staking for holders.
4-The remaining income goes into treasury for event, salary, GA, etc …
5-Put NS on many Dapp, such as Doubleup, Typus, Winx, … etc …so that people can use NS else where.
6-Right now, trading Domain on tradeport has 0 loyalty fee, maybe you can apply 2.5 or 5% fee on the trade to get more income.
7-Maybe you can OTC some token from well-known project in SUI and airdrop it to 3D domain holders, top NS holders, or even Aeon holders. People love airdrop, and they will flex that on social media = marketing. More nft trade = more royalty fee = more income = more burn = more staking reward = more Money for Airdrop.
8-Dont airdrop NS ( tbh I think airdropping NS for voter is not even necessary, just record their vote and after 3, 6 or 12 months, give holders that vote frequently something else, coupon, airdrop, nft, …etc …).
Those are just my newbie ideas, hope that help contributing something.

would be nice to have a variable pricing with NS attached. So NS would get the price in USD to be paid while SUI staying static would probably make people buy NS and use in the domains.

While I like the proposal, I think that from 4-5+, all NS and SUI should be used with market value. If we want a 5-letter domain it should cost a set amount in USD that can be paid as someone likes and any coins.

First, I want to make a few points,
:no_entry_sign: I’m opposed to:

  1. Discounts for NS Holders.
Reason: buying for a discount and then selling NS.
  2. Sales for NS only.
Reason: names should be available. Acquisition methods should be expanded, not limited. (I’ve previously suggested also adding NFTs of various denominations to buy/renew names with distribution through various events and NFT market support. The analog is spaceId).

:white_check_mark: I’m in favor of:

  1. Discounts:
  • per NS staking/lock and votes;
  • when buying/renewing for NS;
  • depending on the term for which the name is purchased.
  1. Availability of purchase in different assets: stablecoins, SUI, NS.
  2. Ability to consider a price increase after one year while still being able to renew names at the old price for those who buy before that date.
  3. Increased registration/renewal timeframes.
  4. Ability to renew names from 4 characters on a monthly basis.

Registration/Renewal Fees ($):
3 (000-999) : 540 / 135
3 (aA-zZZ) : 480 / 120
3 (others) : 420 / 105
4 : 120 / 30
5 digits and above : 10 / 5

This looks really good and can be used as a basis for voting, imho.

Set the price in USD, that’s stable and non-volatile. As already mentioned earlier, paying in USDC would also be a good idea, for various reasons.

NS holders can be rewarded in a variety of ways, but you need to find a way that gives loyal holders a benefit/advantage.

I think we should not destroy the value spent my the early user . And they must not be devalued .

We can create a new category like 9+ or 11+ chars and theat can be acquired for steep discount like 5-10$ that too in with dynamic amount of NS with respect to the price of NS

This way we can provide value for existing users as well as onboarding the masses .

I hope you like it , any suggestions on this opinion are welcome

I feel this is actually nice
20 sui currently is high for newbie coming to our chain to stay
Sui is no longer 1$ , and back then when the domain names were still fresh 20$ should get you a name
I feel we need to reduce the price and give other options like the ideal of NS token or stables to get the name

I like the idea of giving NS token the utility. A discount with it’s use will help alot.

I was wondering how we can add value to $NS I put my proposal here some days ago Developers & Innovators, Let’s Build Something Awesome - #24 by nik4.
My thought is simple, we can use the $NS token as the core token for suins.
Let me explain, every buyer coming to suins must hold $NS for the purchase or this tx can be in $SUI on front but at the back $SUI be swapped to $NS for purchase (customer doesn’t notice anything).

Prices when the $SUI is skyrocketing are very high.
What I mean? Most of the OGs and people who are at SUI eco from the beginning have already bought names and they also hold $SUI since the lower prices.
Our target are mostly the newcomers who are coming or have already come after the hype. This target group bought $SUI at high prices, as a result it’s difficult to them (except on whales) to buy a domain for 100-500 $SUI.
My idea is that a model with fair prices for all, based on $USDT payable on $SUI/NS (not stable).
Additionally a good discount approach for $NS holdres, OGs etc

The implementation of static pricing with $NS for domain names would be beneficial for our ecosystem. I propose the following pricing structure in USDC:

- 3 characters: $800 USDC
- 4 characters: $200 USDC
- 5 or more characters: $30 USDC

This revised pricing strategy will not disrupt the community, particularly those who have already minted numerous domains at higher prices due to the significant increase in SUI’s value.

Additionally, we could offer a discount ranging from 25% to 33% for transactions made with $NS for both minting and renewing domain names. This adjustment would make our pricing more competitive with other domain services such as ENS and SNS.

The revenue generated through $NS will be allocated to the community treasury, enabling us to develop new features and enhance utilities more rapidly.

Should you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to share your thoughts.

I completely agree with the need to address domain pricing to ensure it’s fair and sustainable for the community. A static pricing model for different domain lengths is a great starting point, as it simplifies the structure and makes it predictable for users.

Additionally, introducing $NS as a payment option with discounted rates is an excellent way to encourage ecosystem engagement and reward loyal users. I believe this can also strengthen the utility of $NS within the community.

Looking forward to seeing the collective input shape a well-rounded proposal. Let’s work together to build a fair and inclusive future for SuiNS!

Setting the price in USD means that you’ll always be guessing about what the price “should be” and it will consistently have to be adjusted.

If you just set the price in NS (as a portion of the NS supply) then the market value of NS will determine the price of the service. Further, if it’s priced as a fixed portion of the NS supply, you could burn NS as the service is used, meaning usage will drive value of NS.

Example:

  • We agree that the service price should start at $5 (throwing out a round number). Based on today’s value, that would be about 17 NS to register. Today, that equates to about 0.00001095% of the circulating NS supply.

  • Let’s say we burn 5% of each transaction. Because the price is based on the supply, and then rounded, the service would effectively get very slightly cheaper with each usage (which forces the market to maintain pricing equilibrium).

  • If the token (and by extension the service) were overpriced, usage would decline resulting in less burned supply, reduced appreciation, and likely selling of the NS token which would drive the price down.

  • If the market feels that it’s underpriced according to usage, the NS token would be a very attractive investment, thus driving up the price.

  • Those forces would establish and maintain a truly “free market” value of the service and token, rather than playing a perpetual guessing game. Further, service usage would continually reward holders.

The price should not change

:white_check_mark: keep it fixed at 20 Sui

:white_check_mark: If you want to reduce the price you should give a discount coupon by locking (Stake 7 , 14 , 30 Day ) $Ns or $Sui, but of course should focus on $Ns

I think the pricing should be using usdc only to make it consistent. Then, put a discount depending on the user’s stake (when staking is implemented). For example 100 ns stake will get 2% discount, 1000 stake will get 5%, 10000 will get 10% and so on.

I’m all about a static pricing model. However, rather than a simple USDC static price model, $NS payments are based on dollar value.

For example, 3-char = $100, 4-char = $50, 5-char+ = $10.
I have 10 USDC in my wallet. The actual purchase route is

  1. swapping 10 USDC to $NS >
  2. purchasing a domain with $NS.

One more suggestion: burn or $NS buyback 10-30% of the $NS used to purchase the domain.

Pricing

5+ characters

$33 / year pegged to USD, paid in whatever currency.

I propose a gradual price reduction for the next two years rather than an instant dump from 20 SUI (~$75) to 33 USD (let alone $20).

This will protect those who already bought the domains for over $50 in USD terms and reduce the number of speculative registrations while many good names are still available.

I’m talking against my bag here—if the price is reduced to $20, I will register 100-200 names, and I am sure many early investors who bought SUI for under $1 will do the same as the domains become free.

Example:
Jan 2025 — $59 new reg, $33 renewal
Jul 2025 — $49 new reg, $33 renewal
Jan 2026 — $33 new reg, $33 renewal

2026 is also the year of entering the bear market, so it makes sense to keep the prices lower. While we are in 2025, there are fewer reasons for any reduction, in my opinion.

4+ characters

10x base price

3+ characters

15x base price

Remarks

We should not forget that the USD is inflationary and that the fixed USD price should not remain fixed forever.

$NS token

No discounts for paying with $NS token.
No burning of the $NS token.

I propose converting the sales proceedings to $NS token internally and use the large part of that to incentivize the holders (staking, voting).

There should be other ways to increase the value of $NS token rather then inflating the price by reducing the supply.
